Many companies
offer lighting retrofits. They replace ballasts and lamps and tell you
that they have upgraded your lighting. The truth is that a retrofit of
existing fixtures is only the first step in a lighting upgrade
ECS’ turn-key process is a comprehensive approach that takes into
account the following
-
Facility Operations – how does your facility operate? What are the hours? How does traffic flow through the facility?
-
Long Term Goals – how long will you be in your facility? Rent / Own?
- Energy Conservation Goals – what are the most important aspects of your
energy conservation program? Cost / Savings / Maintenance? Controls –
how is the lighting controlled? What are the best options to maximize
savings and minimize cost?
- Light Levels – how bright is each room and should it be increased or reduced to meet the rooms function?
- Light Color – what color light is best suited for the function of the room? What upgrades would best suit that function?
- New Fixtures – would new fixtures be more appropriate? Does the added
value of a capital investment make sense for the facility?
Our process begins with an interview where we being to understand how
your facility works. From there we walk the facility until we have an
accurate count of fixtures, light levels and all pertinent details
Energy Savings:
Upgrading a lighting system can reduce energy consumption in two ways.
Since Energy = Power x Time, we can either reduce the lighting system's
input wattage (kW or kWh) or reduce its hours of operation. As the kW
and the kWh are the basic products for which an electric utility
charges, significant operating cost savings can result that can pay for
the investment and then reduce a desirable return on that investment.
